DMT Consultants Ltd. was established in 2004 and offers enterprise development services for Micro, Small and Medium-size Enterprises (MSMEs) in Eastern and Southern Africa. The firm supports development agencies in the design and implementation of MSME growth programmes as well as technical support and business management / export training to MSMEs.  DMT Consultants has a strong interest in the role of gender in trade.  The firm is run by a team of seasoned consultants with rich experience in a variety of disciplines in both East Africa (Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania and Uganda) as well as the United States.

DMT clients include TradeMark East Africa, the East African Business Council, Uganda Women Entrepreneurs Association Ltd. (UWEAL) and Victoria Seeds Ltd, Uganda’s lead seed multiplier with a base in Northern Uganda. In addition to the above named clients, members of the DMT team of consultants have led or participated in assignments for the Centre for the Promotion of Imports from Developing Countries (CBI) in the Netherlands, the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) the Inter-Governmental Agency for Development (IGAD), International Trade Centre (ITC), USAID/LEAD in Uganda and Action Aid, Uganda.

The principal consultant / director at DMT Consultants Ms. Dorothy M. Tuma has a Master of Public Administration from the Harvard Kennedy School, a Master of Business Administration from the University of California Los Angeles and a Bachelor of Science in Economics from Makerere University Kampala, Uganda.  The rest of the core DMT team is comprised of two candidates pursuing doctorates as well as one university professor.
